1. No Cellphones Allowed in Play Space:

  • Purpose: To encourage a focused and immersive experience for all attendees.

  • Implementation: Cellphones with red tape over the camera will be allowed at the convention other than the in dungeon play space. NO Cellphones can be taken out in the play area. Cell phones may be used in full capacity in hallways, rooms, and common areas that are located outside the convention space.

  • Professional Photographers: There will be professional photographers during some portions of the nightly play parties. These photographers will only take photos of attendees who ask to be photographed.

  • Content Creator Time: On Saturday afternoon the dungeon will be opened up for content creators, specifically for the purpose of shooting scenes. Anyone in the space during that time accepts that video and photography will be taking place.

GFA’s Safety and Consent Violation Procedures

The GFA and its staff place a very strong weight on ensuring the attendees of our events are protected and that violators are removed from our space. In the event that a safety or consent violation has been observed, or reported to our staff, the following procedures will occur.

Please note: The GFA is a convention, and as such, there will be limited amount of staff and time available to conduct exhaustive investigations. For this reason, this policy is written to protect the largest number of people at our events, to be able to conduct investigations quickly, and take any needed disciplinary measures immediately.

Safety Violations

A safety violation is an action that endangers people or property at the GFA. These violations will be broken down into two categories: Minor and Major Infractions.

  • Minor Infractions - Actions or negligence that could have resulted in harm of a person, property, or the hotel. These actions or negligence either could have caused harm or caused a minor amount of harm.

  • Major Infraction - Actions or negligence that could have or did cause major harm to a person, property, or the hotel. Or an action or negligence that caused unintentional harm to a person.

If an attendee is found to have conducted a Minor safety infraction, they will receive a warning. A second minor infraction and they will be expelled from the GFA and not be permitted back in the event space. If an attendee is found to have conducted a single major infraction they will be expelled from the GFA and not permitted back in the event space.

Consent Violations

Consent Violations are considered a very serious offense. If someone is found to have committed a consent violation at the GFA they will immediately be expelled from the convention and not be permitted back in the event space.

Investigations

When a safety or consent violation has been reported to GFA staff, or observed by GFA staff, an investigation will be conducted. This investigation will be conducted by at least 2 staff members of the GFA including at least one of the event organizers. The GFA staff will speak with all first-hand parties that were involved in the situation individually. After speaking with the parties, the event staff will come to a determination about what, if any, infarction incurred. The result of their determination will be communicated to both parties and any disciplinary action will be conducted immediately.

The determination of the staff is FINAL. There will be no further investigation during the course of the convention after a determination has been made, and the matter will be considered resolved at that time.
